BOARD MEMBER: NON- PROFIT

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION COMMITTEE

I currently serve on the Board of Directors for a Charlotte based non-profit, Caroline Calouche & Co, where our vision is to create educational opportunities for people to experience the world from a unique and artistic perspective, which will enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.

We officially launched a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in Summer 2020 and we are currently working on crafting our DEI Statement as well as initiatives.

One of the initiatives that I plan to lead is “Tea Time” which is derived from “yum cha” in Cantonese, which means “drink tea”. In Hong Kong martial arts you learn the movements in class, but the philosophy is taught over ‘“yum cha”. Our goal with “Tea time” is to educate students about inclusive practices within the classroom as well as outside.

TEACHING: BOLLYWOOD DANCE

In addition to serving on the committee, I am also a Bollywood Dance Instructor with this non-profit. I taught a Bollywood Dance Class workshops as part of the culture series, where I had an opportunity to share my culture and dance with 20 other students virtually.
